Lake, Cake and Thunderstorms!

This past weekend we went camping at Big Lake in central Oregon.  Damian had lots of fun and did even better than our last camping trip.  The weather was beautiful, perfect for swimming and boating in the lake.  Saturday evening there was a thunder and lightning storm that passed over us, but luckily the rain didn't last through the night.  I love storms!
Yep,  we took the high chair with us.  It made life so much easier during meal times.

Charlie was actually the first one in the lake after he spotted the ducks that always stayed just out of his reach.  Smart ducks.

Addie turned 3 on Friday so I baked her a chocolate zucchini birthday cake to celebrate.

Can you guess what this little camper is doing?

Jon and Rachel brought these cool balloons that had bands attached to them.  Damian loved it!

Gardening with Mary: Harvesting

After being gone for the weekend it was fun to come back and see what was ready to pick in the garden.  My tomatoes are finally ripening up along with the first of my peppers, the last of the broccoli and of course zucchini.  I actually picked quite a lot more zucchini than shown in this picture.  I am hoping that my zucchini is nearing its end, not sure how many more things I can cook with it.

Camp Campos goes Camping!

This week was our maiden voyage of taking Damian camping with our new camping gear.  We decided to head to Newport for one night to see how they all would do!
It took us a couple tries but we got our tent up no problems.  I love the new tent, we can stand up inside!
My parents and Joan came down for the day.  Us ladies and Damian went shopping while the boys did some coastal golfing.  Pop was on bean stirring duty :)

I think Damian got confused when we said we were having roasted wieners for dinner and started eating poor Charlie dog!

Damian did really good going to sleep, but at 1:30 in the morning he decided he wanted to play.  Not sure why he felt the need to do this as he never does it at home!  Oh well, at least he wasn't one of those screaming/crying babies at the campsite.  I have decided that a tent is like a giant pack-n-play.  They can't get out of them and there are no hard surfaces to bonk him self on.  I should set it up in the backyard for him to play in!

The next morning, after a pancake breakfast, we packed up and headed to the Marine Science Center.  The new octopus Ursula is a little shy still and was hiding in the corner but there was still lots for Damian to look at and touch.

The poor fish on the left was missing one eye and these other two never moved.

If you have never been to the Marine Science Center in Newport I highly suggest it.  There is lots of hands on activities and fun things to look at.

9 months

I can't believe that my baby is now 9 months old.  Where did time go?!?!  His Drs apt. isn't until later this month so I don't have his hight/weight for you today.

He loves the swing at the park near our house.

Scootin around outside.

I love profile pictures of him.

Wild hair, and no I'm not ready to trim it yet :)

Nap time

Obviously Charlie thought this would be a good place for a nap.

Opps my picture taking woke him up.

Marys Melons

From my garden of course!
These are my Amish melons, which are supposed to be like a cantaloupe.  I can't wait to harvest them, Damian loves cantaloupe.

My cucumbers are really growing, we picked a couple just yesterday.  They were  crisp and delicious.

Some of my veggies that I am getting from my garden.  The green beans I snapped and froze to use through the year.  I have lots more beans to come.  This was the last of the sugar snap peas.  Damian will be sad, he loved snacking on them.  We had the best stir-fry the other night with the broccoli.  I am really into stir-fry right now, they are so quick and easy to make.  Even more delicious knowing that I grew the veggies that I'm using.

Babies first trip to the Capitol

We took my parents friend Joan, visiting from China, to see our states Capitol building.  It is kind of fun to play tourist for the day.

Damian looks so small in front of the entrance.

Hanging out in front of the state seal.

This is the inside of the rotunda.

We climbed all the way to the top of the building.  That is 121 stairs up carrying a 20+ pound baby who was trying to grab the fencing as we were going up, quite the workout.  I love those chubby cheeks!

The pioneer in all his golden glory!

Pop, Damian and Joan posing for me.  Notice Damian is trying to pull poor Joan's hair.

After the Capitol we walked over to Willamette to look around.  The "Star Trees"  as they are called truly do form a star at the top when standing in the middle under them.

My parents met and fell in love at Willamette.  Campus lore states that if you kiss your sweetheart under the star trees you are destined to marry them :)
