Fun at Foster Lake

Yesterday we took Jorge's mom up to Foster Lake to have a little fun in the sun.  It was a little over cast when we arrived but cleared up quickly and turned out to be a beautiful day at the lake.
The soccer ball goes everywhere with us.
Damian can appreciate a good stick and a good rock for that matter.
He had no desire to share the macaroni salad with anyone else.
Time for some fun in the water!
Splish splashing and having a great time.

Adventures in Pickling!

This year in my garden I planted pickling cucumbers with the intent to can my own pickles.  I finally had enough cucumbers to make a batch.  This was the first canning of the season that I have done and in my books I think it was a success!
Got my cute cucumbers and dill all ready to go.
Always handy to have a mandolin slicer to make the job faster!
All stuffed with garlic, dill, mustard seed, peppercorns and vinegar water.
 Bath time!
My beautiful jars of dill pickles.  For best results they say not to open them for 4-6 months.  So I guess  I will get back to you on whether or not they taste good!

Family Time

Jorge's mom and grandma are here visiting from Mexico so we had a BBQ with one of his Aunts and her children.
 Four generations
 What good helpers.
Areli and Damian watching some Olympics.

"Posicle" Time

Yes I know I didn't spell it right, but that is how it sounds when Damian asks for one.  This is definitely an outdoor topless activity, though I am pretty certain he got more on me than himself.
 Yummy!
He had to carry around the bowl in case he wanted to set his posicle down.
Mean ol' mommy took a bite of his "posicle.
He wasn't happy until I spit it out into the bowl-learned my lesson.  Get my own!

Beautiful Beach Day

It was a gorgeous day at the beach, the sun was out and it wasn't all that windy.  I cannot remember the last time that I felt hot whilst at the beach!
This is probably the first time that Damian has really had the chance to play in the sand.
He had so much fun digging and trying to bury mommy in the sand.
Even Charlie got down and dirty in the sand.
I would build it and then he would destroy it.
Taking it easy under the umbrella.
He did venture up to the water but quickly deemed it too cold.  Smart boy.

The Blueberry Bandit!

On Tuesday I took my MIL and Damian to pick some blueberries.  We were quite successful in our journey, picking just over 34 pounds!  My freezer is now full of yummy delicious blueberries to enjoy all year long.
My blueberry crew.  Notice the little hand sneaking into the basket.
 YUMMY!!!
The bandit snagged a container off the counter and made a run for it.
He got caught...but too cute to prosecute.
